Eid Mubarak!
It is already the second week of Eid but I hope it’s not too late to wish you Happy Eid! May our deeds during Ramadhan are accepted. Today is Sunday, and I’m just staying home today doing usual chores and. Probably going to cook and do some prep for the week. Weekends just go by too fast when you’re working.
This time, Eid is different from previous years. Though it is my third year celebrating in Japan, this year was quite different because I had to work. Eid fell on Friday which was the day I had a company trip so applying for a day off was a big no-no. The moment they told me about the company trip I already imagined how my Raya would be like.
First day of Eid was me rushing in the morning to catch the train and fast-walked to the office so I can arrive on time. Of course, I missed my family terribly and imagining all the food. Previous Eid was spent with me and my housemates gathering and meeting others in the Embassy Building, they hold Eid feast every year so normally people would go there during any celebration.
I’m missing the days we were just playing around Shinjuku Park.
Last minute me being me, I decided to go meet my friends the very next day. We bought a bus ticket to Kyoto and met my friends there to celebrate together. Then we stopped by in Osaka before heading back.
During the weekend I met some new people, did catch up with some of my friends I haven’t seen in a while. It was refreshing and very much needed short escape. Working life has changed my life pattern, including my way of thinking and making decisions. It has changed my perspective on time. Money is still a priority—but nothing compared to time. My weekdays go by with commuting and working the whole day, night times are just to rest and catching up with my family via Whatsapp and calls.
It has become very important, not only for me but for us to really look into who, what, where we are investing our time into. For me, I’m trying my best to stay positive during weekend by doing things I like and meet my friends here, just to make sure I don’t lose touch with outside world and things I enjoy doing.
Honestly, I wanted to blog on weekdays but I get too overwhelmed by work and all i think about is my bed and blanket! And ofuro if I can manage. So really trying my best here to write more regularly. See you around x
