Reigniting My Blogging Spirit
It is human nature to question others’ behavior especially when it is out of the norm or their expectation. You can deactivate your social media, live in a cave for years, come back and people would still question it to check whether it validates their judgements. And we sometimes succumb to that.
Whenever I feel like writing up a post I always worry if my words appear tone deaf, insensitive or straight narcissistic. People blog for many reasons, some to pay their bills and for some, it is an outlet for their inner voice and stories. And neither is better than the other.
For many months, I have contemplated to write things that happened these past few months, but the timing always seemed off. With the pandemic happening among other events around the world, we became anxious over the news, exhausted over online classes. Yet, I still want to document bits of my life here because a) my blog is my most consistent medium and b) I actually enjoy spending time here.
This blog is a diary, a public one; an irony I learnt to accept. I put things out and hope people could relate to my writing. Knowing I’m not alone is comforting and we need that especially in these times. It feel like missed opportunity when I didn’t write for quite some time during last year. But it was a very much needed time to reflect and realign my values.
Here are the some of the things I tried to get back that motivation to write:
Find Your Inspiration
Social media like Pinterest, Instagram and Tiktok are full of tips and tricks. But going through all of them could be overwhelming. Those blog-today-get-rich-tomorrow style might not suit everyone. The key is to find contents that satisfy your writing style or niche.
The best idea sometimes come at the most random moments. While showering, washing dishes or even 2AM in the morning. Whatever it is, write them down! I usually use the Note app on my phone, write what i think, then draft it in my blog. You can always come back later and decide. Not everything should be published but it helps to just…write.
I enjoy reading other people’s blogs although I always forget to leave any comments. (trying to improve this) But I get inspired by looking at pretty blogs with pretty words. It’s all tough grind, and it shows. I’ve been thinking of revamping my Blog..but we’ll see.
Here’s to us growing, flourishing and never abandoning our blog again.
Thank you for reading, Xx
