Selamat Hari Raya all! May all our deeds during Ramadhan be accepted inshallah. Eid this year has been a special one for me. After 3 years celebrating Eid far from home, I was really looking forward to celebrating Eid here with my family in my hometown. For some, 3 years aren’t that long, but for me it was enough to make me realize what a baby I am and how much I wanted to be with my family during this time of the year. Ramadhan too, was very much different from last year. I spent my Ramadhan last year alone, working and rushing home everyday to cook iftaar, of just stopping by a bakery to buy a sandwich. It went by so fast I almost didn’t realize it was over. But not this year π

This year I was able to help my mother and spend more time for myself. And had intensive one-on-one cooking class with my mom. Preparing myself as I won’t be celebrating Eid alone next year *winkwink*
This year we celebrated Eid with my dad’s side of the family. We balik kampung in Tawau a few days before Eid so we spent the last two days of Ramadhan there. My brother came all the way from KL with his family so I get to spend time with my cheeky niece. I was having a serious baby fever. My phone is currently loaded with her photos and videos though. I figure every last child probably loves kid because we didn’t get the chance to play with one growing up. :p
That first week of Raya was hectic, my siblings and I were rushing all the time as time is always limited. But I think we did okay *hugs* Overall, it was a fun rush, the family-ish kind of chaos. I’d pick that over any lonely day.
Honestly, it was quite awkward meeting some relatives and they didn’t recognize you. 3 years couldn’t have possibly done that, could it? But it’s Raya, so time to re-engage with distant relatives and your parents’ friends who have known you since you were an infant, I guess?
Raya food, ugh. They’re THE BEST. Gained some weight but my tummy couldn’t be happier. Now it’s time to return to healthy diet routine before the big event. I tried cauliflower rice and it worked for me before so I’ll probably return to that. Wish me luck! I’m attaching some of the photos I took, just in case <3

How was your raya so far? Thank you for reading!
